Frequently Asked Questions

What are your qualifications?

I have earned my sleep consulting certification from the Institute of Pediatric Sleep and Parenting (IPSP). I was also a part-time nanny to two young children when I was in my early twenties, and am now a mother myself to two beautiful girls. I have been in your position and I know how difficult this can be. My first baby was premature and my second was colic, both experiences were so different and challenging in their own ways. I read many sleep books and sleep trained my girls before obtaining my certification, so my knowledge is extensive and my passion for this is immense.  I also have a huge network of IPSP sleep consultants who come with their own knowledge and experience, so there is no situation that we can’t find a solution for.

What sleep training method will you use?

I am well-versed in a wide variety of sleep training techniques, I do not favour just one and I often combine them! I will ask you to complete an extensive questionnaire that will give me the information I need in order to create a customized sleep plan for you. This plan will take your babies personality and habits, as well as your own, into consideration.

Will my baby cry?

Your little one may shed some tears through this process, it is unrealistic to expect otherwise. We will be changing your babies routine and asking things of them that they are not used to, and often babies will become frustrated by this. This frustration often results in some tears and protest on their part. I will never ask you to leave your child in distress or do anything that you are not comfortable with. My method is far from the “cry it out” approach you may have heard of. I believe in comforting them through this experience and catering a sleep plan to fit them and your family. Hopefully with as little tears as possible!

How long until I see results?

Unfortunately I cannot answer this question definitively, as it varies so much. Every baby is different. Some babies will accept sleep training right away, while others may protest a bit and prolong the process. It will also depend on the technique we decide to use, while some can get the job done in a few days, other gentler approaches can take several weeks. It will all depend on how you and your baby react to change. I am here to support you for three full weeks and hope to have your baby sleeping soundly by the end of our time together. I will always leave you with the knowledge on what to expect in the coming months.

Will I be able to stop feeding during the night?

If you are hoping to stop feeding at night, we would want to ensure that your baby meets all the criteria to do so. I would ask you to speak with your paediatrician, as they can advise you if your baby is ready to sleep straight through the night. I am certified as a sleep consultant, but I do not have medical training and cannot give you medical advice.

Can you help me virtually or do I have to live near you?

I can assist you from anywhere in the world! I do live in Calgary AB and am able to do in home visits if you live nearby, but everything can be done virtually!

How much do you charge?

Take a look at my Services page for details on all of my packages. The price varies depending on the age of your child.
